red nose and rainbow wig.
I think that although i livened up the mood at today's filming with the weirdest and most impromptu comments, i talked a tad bit too much. real issues, real pain.

gloomy no more.
If we are called to be light of the world and salt of the earth, how can we be just like every other student in campus going through school as if tomorrow will never come? Yes, it is the time of the semester that we all dread, the deadlines and assignments but, in that split second, it was an excellent reminder to rejoice in Lord, ALWAYS, and again i say, REJOICE!
Alright, i'm gonna get my work done before i head home for dinner. Lord grant me efficiency and wisdom for this task, i want to do it with an attitude that praises You. :)

i'm back and my heart is singing.
I have been learning very tough lessons that have brought me back to the basics of what Christianity means but I would rather go through each one of these lessons then wish they never happened. Because these processes have moulded me. They have strengthened my faith, built my stamina for a longer race ahead. I cannot emphasize how much the Lord has had His favour showered over me in every aspect of my life and I am ashamed that many times I do not even recognize it as His grace and mercy.
And as I attempt to start explaining the areas in my life He has been challenging me with, I don’t know where to start or update. Because there simply has been too many! And besides… well, I guess the procrastination to blog about them has made me a little at a lost as to where to start. Grins. However, I am ready to start sharing consistently again how the Lord has been glorified in my life. I am reminded of how I wanted to use this space to share of His goodness and spur others on in their Christian walk. And yes, truly I would like to use this space to do that.
Moving from the virtual to the real world, the atmosphere in the library is so surreal. I really miss the NUS arts canteen where I can sit by the tables at the side and just enjoy the breeze, being by myself. It’s amazing how I am such contradiction sometimes. I really love being around people (I can’t imagine how it would be like when I am 40 and alone. Haha.) but yet I also enjoy being alone a lot. Just the serenity, spending time thinking and being with the Lord is so so precious. Perhaps the more I am around people, the more I desire to be alone too. Shrugs, humans are rather complex. Whatever it is (haha), I guess I better hit the notes again and finish up this point of the assignment before heading home for home-cooked food and the 9pm show. Haha. Don’t mock me, I hardly get to follow any drama series nowadays.
My heart is singing, “Jesus You are so good…” Truly a privilege to be called His child. Smiles.

more to life.
When you have slept 8 hours the night before and then another 6 hours in the afternoon but still feel tired and lethargic, you realise that your body is not letting you off this time.
When you feel that you can't rest anymore becasue you have to do work for tomorrow's tutorial, you realise that the school has either overworked you or you have been procrastinating. (i prefer to believe its the former.)
When you are drinking cold honey and you feel it going down your hot throat, you realise that you haven't been drinking enough water.
When you find yourself taking delight in little cute things on the display of a toy shop, you know that there are things in life that help you feel better when you are feeling drowsy.
When you start having silly dreams and sharing them with your friend over msn and laughing about it, gosh, you realise how deprived you are.
When you finally admit you should just smile and thank God for the day, you realise there is so much more to life than what you think. :)

Christ liveth in me.
I have been pondering and meditating on this verse for a while. We use this verse too flippantly sometimes i feel. I wonder what this verse really means to you?

but only one thing is needed.
I have come to a point in my life where thankfully i am aware of certain signals and signs. This morning, as i was talking to God, the "slow down" sign blinked again. I thought to myself, in comparision to last semester, gosh, i have already slowed down tons. Are You sure Lord? How lofty was that! To ask God if He is sure... And God humbled and brought me once again to this passage in the Bible of Mary and Martha,"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." - Luke 10:38-42
I have decided to slow down on some things and speed up on others.

my brother.
This was taken on the 23rd of January, and i just wanna say that i love my brother! i think he is so handsome lah. Wah, cannot take it. haha. (dave, i bet your ego big big now.... laughs.) But anyway, i wanted to say that we have grown closer over the years and i believe that he has so much the Lord is gonna use him for. I cannot thank God enough for the gifts and talents He has bestowed upon him, and the immense pride i have for him. He is one of a kind. Thursday, January 25, 2007
what's the difference?
Question #2: What does the verse "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35) mean?
These two questions amongst others popped up while i was talking to Norman one night and i still have not fully comprehended the answers to them. There are people just as passionate about lives as us. Social workers who give their all forsaking wealth, time, career advancements, and i have seen that they through give their all to meet the needs of the people. (i am ashamed sometimes as i look at some of their lives.) They love one another too don't they? They display brotherly love too right? They give sacrifically as well. Yes, they don't have Christ, but well, their lives seem rather abundant and full to me. So how can one tell really?
To date, i have come to a few conclusions. One. The main difference is the hope that we have, that we know that at the end of the day, we will see Christ face to face and enjoy eternity with Him- to know that what we do has eternal value. Two. We experience true satisfaction, different from the satisfaction that they gain through meet the needs of people and seeing them succeed in life, different from a satisfaction of seeing a family reunited, but we have a satisfaction that surpasses all these. How do i measure? Really- i have no answers, it is something indescribable. Three. The love that we perceive cannot only be measured in the outward fashion and actions. Loving one another is more than merely serving and meeting needs of others, it encompasses more than that. It goes beyond the superficial. There is something about this love that HAS to be different. Simply because God made us different- Children of God as meant to shine. I am pretty determined to discover and seek out what this difference is.
Perhaps you would like to join me on this journey. I don't want to live a mediocre christian life, i desire to be radical for Christ. And that difference then has to be seen, or does it not?
Well, i'll share with you any insights that i gain.

Trust His Heart.
Words and Music by Eddie Carswell & Babbie Mason
All things work for our good
Though sometimes we don't see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what's best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim and you just can't see Him
Remember you're never alone
Chorus:
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His heart
He sees the master plan
He holds our future in His hand
So don't live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
And like a tapestry
He's weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him
He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what is best for you

time, complexities and me.
- Time certainly waits for no men. In a blink of an eye what is done cannot be undone. And i began to pray that my life will be lived with no regrets. That every minute that i have will be God centered and lived for Him. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (1 Cor 10:31) And that is what i pray my life will count for, that it will never be a life wasted.
- God is a sovereign and marvellous God. He could have held the sunset for me, made the sun set a bit slower so that i could enjoy it. But He obviously didn't. Imagine if he did! Do you know that the earth's processes are extremely fragile? Change certain processes, slow down certain movements and you get chaos happening! Was reading up on the sun and it is really fasinating, truly amazing.
- Linked to the last point, God is really a God of complexities. It is already amazing enough how the sun works, how the sunset occurs, why it even does and how time is derived from it but think about this for a moment: This is not the only process that happens in the universe. God has to synthesize many other processes to allow earth to function at such a state that we might live in it. THAT, my friends, really blows my mind. He managed to piece it all together just so that we might be able to have life. And this is what it means when we call God omnipotent.
And do you know that that is how God works in your life too? Experiences you have had, people that you interacted with, places that you go or went to, successes you enjoyed and even your failures- All of this, He pieces them together to form a masterpiece of YOUR life. It is like a patchwork piece, where by themselves, the patches are pretty and nice- they are individual pieces of art even by themselves. When put together, they form a picture, a piece of work that is complete, that is a masterpiece. And so it is for each of our lives, the patches could be significant and individual experiences, encounters or events in and of themselves but when put together with the rest, they form a complete picture of God's perfect plan for your life.
Knowing this, i see each encounter that i have as not a means to an end, but part of a beautiful picture of my life that God is creating. I learn to see things beyond its immediacy and i gain a perspective that what happens now will have eternal impact. I learn to enjoy the process instead of look at the results, to accept failures as part of a growth process, and to recognize that He truly has my future in mind when He brings me through ANY and EVERY experience. He weaves all that i go through and never lets any experience go to waste, only to prepare and use them for what is ahead. And through this, i began to understand a little of what Pastor David Lim always preaches, to do things "in light of His coming again".
This revolutionalizes the way i serve as well. I see my ministries and service not just to achieve results or reach a certain target. But i see my service as a process to build my relationship with Christ, to grow in character, to learn His heartbeat- and that would also mean doing what He wants me to do. As Sis Ervina shared with me that day, "God is more concerned about our relationship with Him than our service. (or the things that we do)" And how true is this! I must learn to stop focusing on the achievement and start learning to focus on the relationship with my saviour and Lord, because to be with Him has to be my greatest joy and desire!
I am awed truly by how magnificant our God is and humbled that He would choose to take delight in my small and insignificant life. How amazing. :)
"When i consider your heavens, the work of your hands, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honour. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and heards, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all the that swim that paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"- Psalm 8:3-9

together with you.
-To God be the Glory in the background-
"Rach, put 2006 behind- your failures and disappointments and move forward."
"Okay, God, i'm letting go, i have to."
"This year is gonna be a year of tremendous growth. Will you trust in me?"
"Trust... Help me Lord, when i can't believe."
"Let's conquer 2007 together shall we? i can't wait..."
wow. what grace. 2007, i'm taking Your hand Lord.
